The Ramp

First time for me eating here. Our waitress Melanie was fantastic. She had a great smile and was very pleasant. She was not only serving us but she was also bartending. But she was killing it. The food was good. I had the Ramp Burger and the Sauerkraut Balls. I will say the Sauerkraut Balls would probably taste better with thousand island dressing instead of spicy mustard. But that’s just me. The prices I think are a tad high. $16 for a burger mostly lettuce and onion…I don’t know but the presentation was good! Definitely worth a revisit.

Definitely a great place for a nice, formal night out. The food is amazing, the drinks are great, and the atmosphere is to die for, especially if you sit out on balcony so you can eat and enjoy the beautiful lake. We went when it was a little cold out and they had the patio area heated which was awesome! And to my surprise there was even live entertainment out there too! Definitely going back for our next date night :)

Although it's more of an outdoor portage lakes warm temp restaurant, (I think!), my hubby & I were fine being inside on a grey evening. Kelsey our server was really warm and welcoming. My husband didn't want the crab served per the menu with the sauces and so forth. Kelsey went to the kitchen to make sure that his scallops were "unadorned"and he was happy. I had the perch and it was excellent as was the salad which was surprisingly, for a simple side effects salad, very good with the white French dressing. We had a very nice evening at The Ramp.

I have worked in the resturant industry for the past 10 years. Never have I seen worse service. 30 min for waters and another 30 min for drinks. The apps were good and the drinks were fantastic. Over half of our entrees came out incorrect. I ordered the scalop dinner and one of the scalops looked like half had been taken out. After not eating one bite of our incorrect entrees, and asking the manager about changing to our correct entrees, she said it was impossible and we needed to pay for everything. The manager called the police. Never have I seen anything like this. Will not return.

Have been to this establishment several times... Every time I wonder why I came back. There is never anyone to see you and you just wander around until you find someone... Takes forever to get waited on if you do at all... The food is okay, nothing spectacular, until today as they forgot to put the thousand Island dressing on the Reuben i'm eating right now. This is the third time that I have gone to this restaurant and found no one at the front, no hostess, nothing except the worker lady there who was chatting away on her phone in the lobby completely ignoring me standing there... There was only one table with patrons at this time too and one person sitting at the bar, so it definitely wasn't an issue of being too busy. By the time I left (with my pickup order) the worker on her phone was now outside in front of the restaurant continuing her conversation. I tried to call in my order 4 hours in advance and the woman who answered the phone didn't take my order and told me just to call back 15 minutes before I want it... Which whatever that's fine. It still gets the job done but you would think the earlier the better to place the order so it can be prepared and accurate... Now here I am with a sandwich missing its dressing.

I wouldn’t go here to eat inside, but sitting out on the deck is worth a visit. Food was good, the French fries (sidewinders) are great. The service and management wasn’t the best. At one point, our server asked us what the sauce was on the plate of deep fried pickles we ordered. I never thought I’d have to explain the restaurant’s food to a server. We waited 10 minutes to be greeted and seated. The interior looks a bit like TGIFridays and loses the whole Portage Lakes vibe we love, but that’s just my opinion. In one word, “Meh” is my first impression.
